Two thirds down or one third to go!?

My how the semester break is flying.
It has been wonderful sleeping in, catching up with family and friends, planning new projects and coming to terms with a few unfinished ones.
The best part of a break is catching up with family and friends. My sons are on school and tertiary breaks for a couple of weeks and I was fortunate enough to spend time with a girlfriend from Waiheke Island during this week. Of course we have hit the shops, movies, restaurants and coffee spots, and chatted till we parted feeling that our social tanks are fuller and happier for the events.
More of the same is planned for this coming week and then it is back to reality with semester 2 at UCOL lying ahead.
Keep an eye out for my completed Westfield Style Pasifika entry, Manawatu Knitting Mills design and accessories, and updates on events.

It's nearly holiday time

Yesssss. Three weeks of blissful holidays start at the end of the week.
It will be great to relax and reflect on this very busy term at UCOL.
Lots has been achieved as I found out during this week of handins.
To end the term on an exciting note, our class is about to take part in a fashion photo shoot workshop. I am sure the new skills will come in very handy in the future.
Take care everyone.

Weekend fabric fun

The weekend is off to a great start.
Having watched soccer I headed into town to a fabric sale... and... well.... there goes the budget again!!!
I feel a wee sewing bee coming up in the holidays. Until then it will be head down and finish all the assignments that are due in next week.
Oh well, at least I have fabric to purr over while I'm looking for design inspiration.
Happy weekend everyone.

Red Hot Off The Ironing Press

This red hot number is great to brighten up winter.

Created in 100% dupion silk.

The coctail dress has a high V neckline, flattering darting, knee length and centre back vent.

Inspiration came from Asia with the dramatic red colour, fabric choice, neckline and simple lines of the garment.

This is part of my Style Pasifika Competition work and there is a cape coming up to complete the look...Watch this space, and hopefully see it on the Style Pasifika Fashion Awards stage this coming September.

Warming up winter. Red wool jacket

Architecture was the inspiration for this jacket.
Ancient Italian buildings and the Sydney Opera House were transformed into collar and belt details.
Made in 100% wool and fully lined, this red number will be an asset in the wardrobe.
